The 13th ICPS International Conference is hosted by the Japanese Carnivorous Plant Society (JCPS) with the cooperation of the Kansai Carnivorous Plant Society (KCPS), the Tokai Carnivorous Plant Society (TCPS) and the Hiroshima Carnivorous Plant Society (HCPS). |

1. International conference |
Date and time:
May 26 (Fri) 09:00 - 17:00 Himeji is accessible by “Shinkansen” bullet train from Tokyo (nearest international airport: Narita or Haneda) in 3 hours. It takes about 1 hour 45 minutes by JR train from Kansai International Airport. Many hotels are available around the Himeji Station and the venue. Please see the web link of “Recommended hotels near Himeji Station”. Himeji Castle, a World Heritage Site, is about a 5-minute walk away from the venue. You will be fascinated by the beautiful castle. Kyoto and Osaka, which are popular tourist sites, are only 1 hour’s ride from Himeji by JR train. You may want to make short trip to these cities before the conference. English-Japanese interpreters will be hired for the presentations. Therefore, those who are not good at listening/speaking Japanese are very welcome to the conference. Free-WiFi is available. |
2. Plant exhibition and plant sales | Date and time: May 26 (Fri) 12:00 - 17:00 May 27 (Sat) 09:00 - 17:00 May 28 (Sun) 09:00 - 17:00 Venue: "Display Hall" of on the 2th floor of Himeji Citizens Hall. Tegarayama Conservatory Botanical Garden, Hyogo Prefectural Flower Center and the carnivorous plant societies will exhibit good specimens of carnivorous plant. In addition, many carnivorous plants and related goods are to be sold by Japanese CP nurseries and the CP societies.
Please note that CITES or phytosanitary certificates for export will not be issued in this conference.

3. Banquet |
May 26 (Fri) 18:30
We are the banquest room in Hotel Monterey Himeji. Japanese and Western cuisines will be served with beer, sake, wine and soft drinks. We hope that participants talk about carnivorous plants with cultural exchanges. Please experience Japanese hospitality “OMOTENASHI”. |

5. Field trip to the local habitats |
May 30 (Tue) We will visit the habitats in Hyogo Prefecture (Abiki Marsh and Nishiwaki City) by rental cars from Himeji. D. lunata, D. tokaiensis and D. rotundifolia will be seen there. Please note that the destination of the field trip may change depending on the condition of the habitats.
Participants of field trip to the habitat of Pinguicula ramosa will travel to Shinagawa by “Hikari” Shinkansen train, then move to Kitasenju by train and stay at hotels in Kitasenju. (Train fare and accommodation fee are your own expense. Japan Rail Pass can be used.)

6. Field trip to the habitat of Pinguicula ramosa |
May 31 (Wed) We will move to Tobu Nikko Station from Kitasenju by Tobu Line train. Large luggage can be checked in coin lockers at Tobu Nikko Station. We will take taxies from the station to the entrance of the climbing trail, then we walk a gentle ascent for 2 hours to the habitat of Pinguicula ramosa. Please note that it might be too early to see the full bloom in this season. Nikko is a world-class tourist destination. The Nikko Toshogu is a part of the World Heritage Site, “Shrines and Temples of Nikko”. It might be worth it to stay in Nikko that night for sightseeing on the next day. |

Please inform the 13th ICPS International Conference Organizer Team Rep. of your name and presentation details (title, abstract, key words) (Deadline: End of March 2023) The allocated time of speech is 30 minutes at maximum. Speech will be consecutively translated into Japanese by the English-Japanese interpreters. All speakers are required to make their presentation data using PowerPoint. Please deliver the presentation data to the 13th ICPS International Conference Organizer Team Rep. of by e-mail or Google Drive by April 20, 2023 for the interpreters’ preparation. If necessary, presenters can finalize the data and bring it in a memory device (USB memory, SD card) to the 1st day of the conference. Speakers are exempt from the JPY 12,000 participation fee for the international conferences. |
